Atlanta Tornado

The tornado that hit downtown this weekend was the result of a huge line of storms that swept along the I-20 corridor for the most part. The main tornado touched down in downtown Atlanta on Friday, March 14, and a second line of tornado-spawning, hail-riddled storms swept through about 24 hours later. Strong thunderstorms are not uncommon in the South and as the tail end of tornado alley, we expect a few twisters each spring, but one of this magnitude is pretty rare for us.

A collection of links to archival photos/video of the events of this weekend for my own remembrance and for out-of-town readers:

Thanks for posting all of this. That first photo and the video are just terrifying.
Thank you so much! I was out of town, and reading the posts on my Palm TX, but it couldn't show many of the pictures.
Thank you so much for posting this. I've been thinking about you all and hoping everyone was okay and their properties undamaged.

I agree with Froofie, the pictures are terifying. I have a huge fear of tornadoes.

All the best to you & Yam & your family and friends.
