Achy Breaky Back

All Hallow's Eve was a bit of a bust. Not that it's ever as cool as when we were young (oh, god, I sound so old). But, it was more bleh in that I went to my storytelling gig in Suwanee. Driving a performance clutch with a wrenched lower back isn't my idea of a good time, by the way. Told almost no stories because I was tucked away behind a wall and the kids didn't see me. However, it wasn't as cold as I'd expected and this was good news for my back and I still made my whole ridiculous fee. So, not a total bust. Just boring... and Jayzuss, but I wonder if those kids have any idea how privileged they are. Probably not, they're all new money. But they were nice enough.

Afterward, I dropped the costume by Stone Mountain Park and limped around Kroger buying a roast chicken and candy corns and Life Cereal on sale. Once home, [info]yamguitar and I had out "date night" lying on the foam mattress on the living room floor eating chicken and candy corns and watching "Mythbusters" until my back burned. We decided it was too lame to be a date night and I went to bed where the psychological wear-and-tear of being in constant pain for 24 hours caused me to bawl for about half an hour. I finally slept, but awoke at 2:00 in agony and had to grunt and sweat and crawl down the hall to lay back down on the firmer foam mattress in the living room where I managed a few achy hours of sleep.

This morning I canceled my appointment with Kennesaw State which is a big disappointment to me. Ms. Baldwin was very gracious about rescheduling, but I'd had high hopes for this meeting and wanted to do it today.

On the good side of things, [info]yamguitar made me an appointment with his doctor for tomorrow, I found some oxycodone in the medicine chest and upon researching it found that it's potent well beyond its "discard date," and I just got a callback for Georgia Shakes. So, despite my ever-darkening mood due to the pain, things are going well. I just need time to convalesce.
